Ideation

After exploring a wide range of ideas using sketching and mockups, I focused on the idea of creating a seamless experience of “preparing – storing – consuming” food at home in a compact space.

Iterations

Iteration 01

A food prep system including a raised chopping board, container boxes in three sizes, and a storage rack.

Iteration 02

Rearrange the components to make the rack slim, add replaceable chopping boards, and add tracks to turn the boxes into drawers.

Iteration 03

Move chopping boards to the front, add a lid and handle to the box, and make the rack more versatile and flexible.

Iteration 04

Focus on iterating the container box, and make the box itself a versatile space-saver.

Final Design

A vertical countertop food prep organizing system for people who live alone in a compact space.

Many containers are used only temporarily during food preparation and cooking, such as containers for holding washed vegetables, chopped ingredients, defrosting meat, and mixed sauce. Keeping these containers organized and taking up less space can create a much more efficient and enjoyable cooking experience in a small kitchen.

Boxes containing ingredients can be stacked on each other to save countertop space. In addition, the transparent material makes it easy to recognize what’s inside.

Empty boxes can be nested inside each other by aligning them, saving storage space.
